Description
The Whooping Crane has the duel distinction of being both the tallest and the rarist of North American birds. They can stand to be five feet tall. In the 1940s it was held that no more than 20 birds existed. Today their population is estimated to be perhaps 700. They are known for their extreme bright white plumage.
