The Pony Express, though short-lived, is an important part of American history and that of the West. Its first run was made in April of 1860, and the last delivery was made in November of 1861 over the 2,000 mile trail. The California Pacific noted, “A fast and faithful friend has the Pony been….Summer and Winter, storms and shine, day and night, he has traveled like a weaver’s shuttle back and forth til now his work is done. Good Bye Pony…You have served us well.”
