Description

An estimated 60-100 million American Bison, often called buffalo, once roamed much of North America in the late 1700s. Disease and hunting by native Americans for hides and meat and later hunting during the fur trade, then for sport brought them to near extinction by the end of the 19th century. Through conservation efforts their numbers have increased. Billy is a hearty representation of the animal.
